The neighboring Kouga and Iga clans of feudal Japan were bitter enemies for centuries and their warring Ninja families have been immortalized in Japanese literature. To commemorate these secretive warriors the Hanwei forge has introduced the Kouga and Iga Ninja-To.
The Kouga made by Hanwei features a dismountable double-pegged Tsuka with a battle wrap over black rayskin and Kouga Mon Menuki. The blackened iron Tsuba features the Kouga Mon and pierced Kanji, a theme repeated on the Fuchi/Kashira. The Kanji and Mon are also employed on the blackened fittings of the spiked Saya. The Kouga features a forged high carbon blade, differentially quenched to an edge hardness of 60HRc.

When one sword is just not enough - Nihonzashi
Sherry & Mike Femal,
Sherry and Mike started Nihonzashi in 2006 so their students of Toyama Ryu would have a consistent supply of uniforms, swords and tatami mats. We have enjoyed growing the business to what it is today and are proud to be known worldwide for our custom products and services. Sherry and Mike created and custom make all of the gekken swords we ship around the world. Also, Mike is fulfiling his dream of expanding his custom weapons to include knives. We look forward to what the future brings and what new creations are on the horizon.
