Japanese swords, equipment, custom knives and more. Our focus is supporting students of the sword and providing high quality functional swords and a full line of accessories. If you study iaido, battodo, kenjutsu, or any other form of Japanese swordsmanship - this is the place for you.
These are discarded from our school’s use because they are half a standard target they will all be approximately square when you receive them. About 3 foot by 3 foot flat. Great if you want a lighter target to start your cutting training with!
You will receive 8 half mats in a box. That makes them only $3.29 Each!
If you want to train with the same targets as a Japanese dojo uses, these are the wara for you. They are generally stiffer and harder to cut, and recommended if you plan to compete or test in Japan. They are generally heavier and are a much higher grade than our new tatami. They are also easier to spike on a target stand and can be much more challenging to cut.
Because they are used and comprised of several different grades of tatami omote, they are much less consistent than our new tatami omote. Some are practically new while others are well used. They require additional soak time and should be soaked for at least 24 hours. You will need to check for staples and other debris since these have been previously used as flooring in Japan. We will make sure you don't get any partial or rotted mats, but quality can vary.
When stored in bulk they have a less pervasive odor compared to the new tatami. It is more like an antique shop than a hay barn. They will make up for this when you soak them, so be warned that they can get a bit funky. They will provide your dojo or house with that authentic distinctive Japanese dojo smell. Join the ultimate international recycling effort and give this tatami one last purpose as you test your tameshigiri skill.
We offer a full line of training equipment and services. We are a one stop shop for your training and collecting needs. We offer training, sharpening, and repair in addition to a full line of iaito and shinken. Buy from a company that can do more than just ship you a sword.
Discounted Prices (normally 15% to 40% off of retail) 90 Day Money Back Guarantee.
